On Friday, 02/25/11, the City of Tampa Human Resources Department issued the following information in reference to employees utilizing up to 2 hours of leave time for appointments at the Employee Wellness Center:

The City of Tampa Employee Wellness Center, located at 4107 North Himes Avenue, will open on February 28. This new center, operated by CareATC, will offer primary care services to City employees, non-Medicare retirees and their dependents covered under any of the City’s UnitedHealthcare (UHC) plans. The City’s Employee Wellness Center is being implemented to help reduce medical costs within the plan–both for employees and the City. In order to provide an additional incentive for employees to use the Employee Wellness Center, the City will provide up to two hours of leave time when an employee completes an appointment at the Employee Wellness Center.

As is the case with all scheduled employee absences, appointments to the Employee Wellness Center must be coordinated and approved through your immediate supervisor prior to your appointment. The City has created a new leave code to be used for time that covers appointments to the Employee Wellness Center, “SKW” for Sick-Wellness Center. This SKW time, not to exceed two hours, will not be deducted from your sick leave balance. In order to utilize this benefit, CareATC staff will provide you with a document that verifies the date of the appointment, arrival time and departure time to be attached to your leave slip. No other information will be provided from CareATC. That amount of time, plus reasonable travel time to and from your appointment, is to be marked as Other – SKW.
