2010 New Courthouse Security Procedures

In January of 2010 I was asked to disseminate the following to the troops by A/Chief John Bennett:

Security at the Hillsborough County Courthouse is now being run by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.  As a result, there are some new procedures in place that sworn TPD officers should be aware of.

  1. The West – Southwest entrance of the courthouse is now dedicated for law enforcement personnel
  2. Even if you are in uniform, you MUST have your department identification with you at all times
  3. If you are off-duty (on a personal matter) and armed, you will be required to store your firearm in a locker

Since that time, I have become aware that any evidence you bring with you might be electronically scanned before you are allowed to bring it into court.  So, please allow for some extra time.
